Drugstore Foundation Routine

Saturday, 7 March 2015

As a girl who constantly battles with redness and blemishes, my skin needs a lot of help, especially when they are combined with extremely humid weather and oily but dehydrated -- sometimes flaky skin. I do not wear makeup every single day, but when I do, I always do medium to full coverage. I always make sure that most of the redness is covered and my skin colour is relatively evened out. That's just what I like to do, if you like lighter coverage then you do you! :) I am happy with this routine so I thought I'd share. So this is my drugstore foundation routine... meaning they are all affordable!

I always start with my holy grail moisturizer that also acts as a primer, Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre (I'm running out of this, SOS) and then apply my Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation in shade 52 Vanille on top to even out my skintone and give my skin an instant plump. Oh, my love for this foundation is endless. It's my favourite of all time. It makes me look like I have been drinking a lot of water and almost like I am glowing from within. How much product I use each time depends on the applicator I'm using, less when used by hand, more when used with a buffing brush, but take or give it's one pump.

After I'm happy with the coverage, I move on to the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer I'm sorry I forgot what shade this is! I think it's number 53. It matches perfectly with my foundation, just a tad lighter. I put this to brighten my undereye, add extra coverage around my nose, and sometimes on my chin. As the name suggests this concealer is brightening so it works perfectly for that, but when I'm having a good skin day, I put this on spots that aren't very red.

For heavy duty concealing I use Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in shade 2 Light. This concealer is much creamier and thicker than the Rimmel one. This concealer is super densely pigmented so it works perfectly to cover acnes, spots, hyperpigmentation that is not covered with the previous two, you name it. I put this on the back of my hand and then spot conceal using my fingers. Do not use this directly from the wand to your active acnes! It will spread bacteria that way. This concealer is the best concealer to cover spots, if you can get your hands on this definitely try one! You won't be disappointed.

As you can see, everything in this roundup is very well loved. It's my go to routine and I have no plan on changing that anytime soon. Now, having my healthy looking, luminous, and evened out skin I am ready to apply the rest of my makeup....

Much love, x
