What Makeup To Pack For Travel

Thursday, 23 April 2015

Hi internet! Since I will be going away for 10 days soon, and everyone seems to be traveling out of the country, I think there are some of you who would be interested in reading about what makeup to pack for travel. When I first started getting into makeup, I always bring tons of product with me during travels, needless to say a lot of them ended up unused and the only thing they did was they took a lot of space in my suitcase. I did not really know how to be efficient with my makeup and always thought "I NEED OPTIONS" but I never really needed that much! So here's what I will be bringing with me and some of my guidance on packing your makeup for travel...

Guys, I know this is a lot of makeup for some people but I tend to do the whole shebang whenever I do my makeup. I practice so it does not look heavy, but I wear everything! On the picture is everything you need to do a full face of makeup (minus eyeliner, because I don't wear eyeliner, ever) so feel free to customize to just what you need. Keep in mind that I don't have any special occasion on my travel, I'm only going to be sightseeing with my husband, so if, say, I was traveling to attend a wedding, I would pack a little differently!

One thing I would say is 1) find a look that works for you, but still works when you give it a twist, like when you wear it with a different lipstick or blush or eye makeup. This takes practice because everyone's face and preference is different, also color coordinating your makeup takes practice, so always experiment ;) And another tip from me is 2) use a product for multiple purpose like for me, I use The Body Shop Honey Bronzer in 02 for bronzer and crease colour. 3) what do you experiment with the most? Is it blusher, lipstick, or eye makeup? and then if you need options, just bring more of what you choose. This time I choose lipstick (2 years ago I would say everything). 4) try to bring products with a more compact packaging, nothing bulky or wide.

I put everything into my Charlotte Tilbury makeup bag that fits absolutely everything. It's not that big but it can contain all you can possibly need! It won't take a huge space in your suitcase. I can still fit a lot into this as it is still half empty with all of these products inside. Best makeup bag I own!

Travel makeup products list:
♥ Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in 52 I have mentioned this several times as it is my favourite foundation! I will spend a lot of my time outdoors and my pictures will be taken, this foundation works for both. It has a light to medium coverage and looks like second skin, natural.
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer to conceal my dark circles.
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer for pin point concealing aka for spots and blemishes.
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder the packaging is not the most travel friendly, but my other powder turns out to be too dark for me, and this works well. I use this to set my base (meaning everything that is liquid and cream) but not to add more coverage so my makeup does not look heavy.
NARS Pro Prime eye primer. I cannot live without this so there's that.
Shu Uemura Hard Formula grey brow pencil. I don't know why the camera picks it up as a red toned pencil. It's not, I promise! This blends in really well with my black hair.
Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit for a wash of colour all over the lid. It is also long lasting and does not budge.
Innisfree eyeshadow in 42 to darken my outer corner or to use all over the lid for an overall dark eye makeup. I won't be using this everyday but maybe at night or when I feel like I want to have darker eye makeup. It is compact and it can transform my eye makeup!  It's a win win.
Charlotte Tilbury Full, Fat Lashes mascara which is not my favourite, but I need to use this up so I'm bringing this. It is so, so black though that it gives you a fuller lashline.
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in Dollface it's spring and I'm into pink. This blush is what I've been wearing for the past two months.
The Body Shop Honey Bronze in 02 a very natural looking bronzer for light skintone that works as a crease colour as well. Multi purpose product!
Benefit High Beam highlighter for my cheekbone, cupid's bow and bridge of the nose.
3 Concept Eyes Water Gloss in Vivatic which is my all time #1 favourite lip product for a more natural, pinky, healthy lips.
Shu Uemura Laque Supreme in WN 02 Wild Fuchsia for a bold-er lip look. Remember, options!
ColourPop Lippie Stix in Brink on me this is a matte dark peachy-pink nude. This one's more for days where I don't need to touch up a lot.

For the applicators and brushes:
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge for my foundation, concealer and powder.
Real Techniques Multi Task brush for my bronzer, blush, and powder.
MAC 217 for my eye makeup.
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler because I can't live with that!

How's that for efficient? Only 2 brushes and a sponge! On days where I don't want to use the sponge, I can always use my fingers as well, so it's okay to scratch that from the list if that's too much product for you.

Here's the look I created with everything on the list...
On the lip I used the Colourpop Lippie Stix in Brink.

I hope this post helps! If any of you will be having a holiday soon, have fun! :)
Much love,
x
