First Impression: First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Purifying Mask with Red Clay

Tuesday, 28 July 2015

I was searching for a deep cleansing mask because my Innisfree Super Volvanic Pore Clay mask just does not do it for me anymore. When I stumbled upon this mask at Sephora Singapore I knew I just had to have it! I am always excited to try out anything that has the potential to take all the gunk out of my skin. I have combination skin with visible pores so this product is made for me. I did not do any research on this product beforehand but I was convinced it would work because I have an indescribable faith in First Aid Beauty products despite having only tried one of their products before (and completely loved it). I'm pretty sure everything from FAB does not have harsh chemicals and are safe for sensitive skin.

The First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Purifying Mask with Red Clay is claimed to detoxify and deeply purify the skin, regulate excess oil and eliminate clogged pores. It also improves skin texture and helps with acne spots. This mask is recommended for people with combination/oily skin or people who are looking for a deep detox for their skin. It's a lot, eh?? With the 49SGD price tag, it better does everything it's claimed to do ;)

I immediately tried this the day I bought it--which was 3 days ago. This mask has a sticky, gooey texture that makes it difficult to spread it evenly. I feel like I need to preserve this because it's expensive but it really takes quite a lot of product to cover my entire face. Plus if it's not thick enough, the mask won't peel off in one piece, so you have to spend extra time peeling everything off your face.

After I peeled it off, I could immediately see a significant difference. My pores were tighter, my skin felt smoother, and less dull. It did not make my skin extra radiant but it did everything on the packaging, which is amazing and why I bought it! Immediate result after first use, I'm in love. Detoxifying masks like these don't hydrate the skin so if it's hydration you're looking for, don't go for this. My skin felt significantly cleaner without feeling like super tight/dried out. It did not irritate my skin, it did not give a burning sensation yet it's really effective. When I applied my makeup the next day, I needed less product to even out my complexion, there were less bumps which meant it did improve skin texture and makeup did not cling to the pores around my nose anymore. Even after three days, I can still feel the effect of the mask. I love how clean my skin feels & looks. I highly highly recommend this!

The only downside to this product is it is hella expensive (if there's anything that does the same thing but with a more friendly price tag, let me know!) and I don't like how I need extra effort to spread this evenly on my skin.

Have you tried this mask?

Much love,
