IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream with SPF 50+

Tuesday, 9 August 2016

It has been very hot and humid where I live, the heat is unbearable sometimes. I have been spending a lot of my days not wearing makeup, but when I do, I have been wanting to wear something lighter on my face, just to even out my skintone a little bit, to make me look a little more put together and not tired.

I researched for tinted moisturizers and cc creams for a long time before I finally settled down on the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream. One, because it gets rave reviews and; two, because it has all the properties I needed.

For reference, I have combination skin (with dry patches sometimes), and my shade currently is Y255 on Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation, probably NC20-NC25 on MAC foundation. I chose LIGHT because it seemed to be the closest one to my skintone.

Here are some of the claims they made about this CC Cream:
Highly pigmented
Multi tasking skincare, coverage and protection (Anti-aging hydrating formula is infused with Peptides, Niacin, Algae, Vitamin A, B, D and E, Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Collagen along with antioxidants)
SPF 50+ broad spectrum physical sunscreen

Sounds amazing, right? I am all for skincare-infused base makeup products, I find that that's what makes it worth the price. I held off getting this for so long because it's expensive where I live, but with all of those properties in one product, it could be amazing, so I took the plunge and decided to try it.

Let's break it down one by one...

Packaging: It's in a light squeezy tube with a great pump. This packaging is perfect for this product. Travel friendly, fuss free, hygienic. It has all the info you need in the back.

Texture: It's a whipped cream texture that does not run on the back of your hand. You would think that it's thick, but it's airy and light once blended. I use Beauty Blender with this and I never have a problem with blending. I usually use a little bit more than a pump, but that's because I have a big face. One pump would be enough for you if you want just a thin layer. It spreads very easily.

Formula: This CC cream has a satin finish and no stickiness. I find that it doesn't transfer after I set it with powder. It feels very lightweight on the skin, and I can feel the skincare properties working. It is hydrating without the greasy feeling sunscreen usually has, so when I take it off at the end of the day my skin feels nice and not suffocated. I love how smooth it is. They claim that this is a fuller coverage base, but on me I can only build it up to a medium coverage at most, usually I wear it very thinly to give light coverage and then only add more where I need it. I think if you would like a true full coverage base, just use a foundation. For a CC Cream though, I am impressed with the amount of coverage it gives. It can cling to the dry patches on the sides of my nose, but that is a problem area for me and nothing has managed to smooth over it so far, so I guess it's not this product's fault. It does not emphasize my humongous pores. The scent is nice but I can't seem to describe what it smells like. The only bad thing I can say about this product is it oxidizes on me, the more product I use the more it oxidizes. It turns into this colour that has a weird undertone, that makes my skin look dull and grey-ish. That's one of the reasons why I don't build up layers when I'm using this product, because I can't be bothered to have to keep blending it to my neck. Other than that, it is a great product (remember the skincare properties!).

Longevity: It holds up pretty nice on me, but it does fade throughout the day without being patchy. It never claims to be long wearing, and in the direction they actually recommend reapplying this every two hours, I think it's if you're wearing this as a sunscreen instead of makeup. If you are going to wear this on the beach, definitely remember that. If you have oily skin I would definitely recommend to  set it with powder, if you're like me then use primer and setting spray as well. (Update: After 8 hours of wear, I find it a little blotchy around my nose, faded on my chin and has the tendency to settle into my smile lines)

Me without makeup

Me with a light layer of IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream in Light

As you can see, it looks very natural and undetectable on the skin. This is a thin layer and it gives a "my skin but healthier" look. It does not cover my dark hyperpigmentations, it just evens out my skin tone a little bit, which is what I was looking for in this product, so I'm not disappointed by the coverage at all.

PROS:
High SPF
Hydrating
Lightweight
Buildable coverage
Nice scent
Smooth
Blendable
Does not emphasize pores
Undetectable

CONS:
Oxidizes
Limited shade range

This product is perfect for you if you are looking for an everyday, fuss free, base makeup. Perfect for work or school days. If you can find your shade, get one!

Much love,
x
