Singapore Haul: Sephora, Dior, Tom Ford, MAC (GIF Heavy!)

Monday, 19 December 2016

I spent a weekend in Singapore recently and naturally I spent a lot of time there in makeup stores. Yep, I bought a bunch of stuff, surprise surprise. I went a little bit out of control I admit! There's no excuse. I also asked on Instagram if I should make the haul a video or a blog post, some of you messaged me saying "video!" and I filmed guys, I tried, but I decided that nooo I'm not that cool yet. The footage will never see the light of day. Here I am with a blog post instead! Rejoice!

So these are a lot of makeup and a couple of skincare items I got in Singapore.

I bought from three stores only, Sephora (ION and Ngee Ann City), Dior (ION) and Tom Ford (TANGS). It may not look like a lot of product, but trust me it's a lot! *insert the upside down smiling emoji here* Let's go through them one by one... First, these are the stuff I bought in Sephora.

Let's start with the big guys first. Zoeva PLAISIR set is a box filled with three full sized eyeshadow palettes. I think the packaging is a bit wasteful and bulky but I get that the set was meant for gift giving. It looks so pretty though! Any makeup lover would be pleased to open up this box. The palettes inside are the famous Cocoa Blend, and then Caramel Melange and Blanc Fusion. I have never seen Caramel Melange and Blanc Fusion before, so I'm not sure if they sell them as single palettes. The quality is incredible and this set has such great value. They are richly pigmented (I gasped when I swatched them on my arm), buttery smooth, and they apply evenly, almost like they blend themselves. I have tried Cocoa Blend and I am very pleased with how it wore, the quality is comparable (or even better) to more expensive palettes. Caramel Melange and Cocoa Blend are both very warm toned, whereas Blanc Fusion is more neutral so for me it's the easiest to create looks with.

I got two new brushes from Zoeva. One is a flat eyeshadow brush the 234 Luxe Smoky Shader brush which I previously had but lost. It's great to pack eyeshadows on the eyes when you want the pigment to be more concentrated, like how you would pat shimmery and metallic eyeshadows onto the eyelid. The other one is a fluffy brush I intend to use to apply bronzer, the 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek brush. I've tried it and really enjoyed it. Two good picks for me!

I have previously only used primers intended to minimize pores or control oil. I was interested in hydrating primers and decided that Too Faced Hangover primer was a good place to start. People seem to love it so much so I thought eventhough I have quite an oily skin I wouldn't hate it. I have also been liking dewy looking skin at the moment. The coconut scent is a little strong for my liking, and it feels tacky on the skin as well. I need to play around with it more to give my full opinion, so far it works okay on the outer parts of my face, but I still need pore filling primer for my t-zone area.

I love the Too Faced Born This Way foundation so much and it's mainly why I got the Too Faced Born This Way concealer (Light). I was so sure I would love it. Sad to say I still like my Urban Decay Naked concealer a lot more, although this one is more hydrating, feels more lightweight and more light reflecting. I find that it settles into the lines on my undereye and it creases on me :( Oh well, I'll try putting on more powder and I'll let you know how that goes.

Addition to the family, Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Nosferatu. If you have been here for a long time you would know Kat Von D is one of my favourite liquid lipstick formulas. My collection needed more dark lipsticks, so I got this deep dark warm toned blood crimson shade. It's absolutely stunning!

Just had to get something from Becca Cosmetics! This is the Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone. It's an intense highlighter with sophisticated sheen. It's a very reflective highlighter, and if you want that blinding highlight look you can get it using this product. The texture is different from my Jaclyn Hill palette, this one definitely makes me understand why people go crazy for their products. It's creamy to the touch with no powder kick up, whereas the powders in my Jaclyn Hill palette are not as creamy and a little stiff. Don't sue me for saying this but if you already have The Balm Mary Lou-Manizer you don't need this one as they are similar, both in colour and formula.

The other highlighter I got (I'm on a highlighter roll) in Sephora but forgot to create the gif of is the Make Up For Ever Pro Light Fusion shade 01, I'm going to write about it more but honestly guys I love it SO much probably a little more than my Becca. I am a huge fan of the Pro Bronze Fusion and this has the same formula, the same texture, I absolutely love it. 01 is an off white highlighter with a little light pink shift, it's a little more sparkly and metallic than Becca. Talk about it more later!

Next up is the Marc Jacobs New Nudes Sheer Lip Gel in Role Play. This is a dusty rose warm toned deeper nude shade which isn't life changing but pretty nonetheless. It feels like a lightweight gel on the lips that's very moisturising and nourishing. I was hoping that it would be more sheer than it actually is, because I prefer sheer nude lipsticks for everyday, but this one is definitely not sheer sheer, despite the name. You can build up the intensity by applying multiple layers. The shape of the bullet also makes it a little difficult for me and my thin, uneven lips to achieve a precise application. I'll still use it, but I'm not blown away.

You know me and my pink blushes. I just had to get this Marc Jacobs Air Blush in Lush and Libido. The design of this product is 10/10. It allows you to create a custom shade by picking up more of the brighter colour or the lighter colour. I've only used it once so I can't say anything about the formula yet. I've got high hopes though! So far so good.

I have been going back and forth on getting this product for the loooongest time. I've read lots of reviews and it's a product which either you love it or you hate it. NARS All Day Luminous Weightless foundation in Fiji. It has a runny texture and you need to give it a good shake.I have only used this once on a day where my skin was very very dry and flaky, and it wasn't good at all. It clung to dry patches and just very blotchy especially on my nose, it just didn't want to stick to my nose. I'll try it again when my skin is back to normal.

The Caudalie Moisturizing Toner is a repurchase. It's a reliable toner that does not break out my skin. It does not dry it out either, which other toners I've tried tend to do. It does not leave a residue and absorbs quickly into the skin. It smells fresh and cucumber-y. I'm excited to incorporate this to my skincare routine again.

Another repurchase is the First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser. Gentle yet effective, does not strip my skin of its moisture, this product is a favourite of mine. It does not leave my face feeling tight and easy to wash off. I always get a tube whenever I'm able to. It's not fragranced and does not have nasty ingredients which makes it suitable for you who have sensitive skin.

This Percy and Reed Dry Shampoo is a miscellaneous purchase. I picked it up from the sample and travel sized products aisle in front of the cashier. I needed a dry shampoo and I have never tried this one before, so it's a good way to try I thought. I've used it a few times and it didn't keep my hair fluffy as long as I hoped it to. It's not bad, it is invisible on the hair and smells quite nice. I'll keep using it as it's quite expensive, but I don't think I'll repurchase.

That's all for my Sephora haul! We've got Dior next...

This is Dior Diorific Matte Fluid in 003 Treasure. This is the first of its kind from Dior so I got it out of curiosity. It's Dior's interpretation of a matte liquid lipstick but let me tell you, it does not really set and it's not matte. The shade is so pretty is a mauve purple-y pink that is flattering and easy to wear. It has a doe foot applicator but it's shaped weirdly and I don't really like it because it does not apply the product as well as it should. I love Dior more than anything but this product is not for me. Thankfully it's pretty to look at, and a good collector's item.

Lo and behold, the most beautiful eyeshadow in the world. Dior Diorshow Mono 658 Cosmopolite is a stunning, stunning multi dimensional warm medium brown that is emollient and creamy to the touch. It's highly reflective and looks god darn glamorous on the eyes. Peter Philips has done it right this time. Absolute perfection! Think Tom Ford cream eyeshadows.. this one has a similar finish to that. Rich, densely pigmented, looks 'expensive' on the eyes. It was sold out in Sephora so I got this from a Dior store. I know that the packaging is too big for such a small eyeshadow, but honestly I've got no problem with that. So excited to use this!

The other Dior eyeshadow I got was this Diorshow Mono Lustrous Smoky 684 Reflection eyeshadow. It's the glitter eyeshadow offering from Dior instead of Cosmopolite which is a shimmer. You can feel the gritty glitter texture when you swatch with fingers, but it's mixed and pressed nicely with the base, so they adhere to the eyelids easily. This shade is similar to Cosmopolite, just a little darker. A wearable option if you want to experiment with glitter eyeshadows.

Last but not least, the Airflash foundation. People have said nothing but magical things about this foundation so years and years after I first heard about it I decided to take the plunge and got a can. This contraption can be intimidating so if you are a beginner I would say stick to the usual liquid or cream foundation. I myself is still adapting to this foundation. The first time I tried it, it looked cakey by the end of the day, the second time I tried it, it looks velvety and airbrushed. So I need to experiment more and use different applicators before I make up my mind. This foundation is so difficult to find, the SA told me it's only available in one store in Singapore (Dior ION on B2 floor), so if you really want it, it would be a mission to get it. I better love this product though, because it is super expensive.

That's it for Dior. Next one is Tom Ford...

I managed to get Tom Ford Thomas from this year's Lips and Boys collection. I really want Evan but that one's sold out (I'm so disappointed!). I swatched Thomas side by side with Pussycat and I couldn't see a difference. Is Thomas really just a smaller version of Pussycat? Nonetheless, it's a beautiful matte formula that glides over the dry bits on my lips, it applies evenly, stayed on for a decent amount of time but I did have to reapply after eating. I enjoy wearing it and expect to get a lot of use out of it.

Wait... I didn't know that the cream shadow in this Tom Ford Cream and Powder Eye Color in Naked Bronze is Spice, which I already have. It's my number one favourite cream shadow, but I don't think I need a back up as it is the most pigmented thing no joke and I don't think I'll ever get through a tub. However, well yes that's what I bought. Now that I know it's Spice and a top coat in a powder eyeshadow form at least I know I absolutely love it.

I got 2 MAC Cosmetics Extra Dimension Skin Finish in the shade Soft Frost and Beaming Blush. Since the collection came out I was so intent on getting these. If I could get 4 of them I would get 4. They are also permanent so that's great news! These highlighters are out of this world beautiful! They are all sort of 'duochromes' because they shift to a different colour. Soft Frost is a white with a violet shift and Beaming Blush is pink with a gold shift. It's difficult to catch it on camera but you can look for swatches online and see what I mean. I don't have anything like these in my collection, so they are a welcomed addition to the family! I have tried Beaming Blush and it's everything that I expected from it. It's very smooth, luminous, reflective highlighter with a wet looking finish without apparent sparkles so it's just a uniform, multidimensional sheen.

Finally reached the end of this haul! Last but not least we have MAC Cosmetics Prep + Prime Fix+ spray in a travel sized bottle. I have gone through bottles of these as it is my favourite finishing spray so I thought having a travel sized bottle would be handy, since I can easily transfer products from bottle to bottle.

That's all for my haul today! Do you think this is a lot of product or not really? I really got only what I truly wanted and tried not to go overboard but maybe I did!

Much love,
